My Commission Process

Here's where you can learn, start to finish, what the process of commissioning me will be like! This 6 stage walkthrough applies to every kind of commission I offer, and will address payment information as well! If you have questions, feel free to email me!

Beginning the Commission - Communication

To start a commission, you'll need to fill out a form of all the basic pricing and request information I'll need. After submitting the form, I'll contact you within 48 hours to begin the communication process. It's my goal to get a feeling for what you want the most from my art, so gaining all the knowledge I can in order to do so is important to me, and will ultimately decide the outcome of your commission. I want you to be as satisfied with the end product as possible! Once I understand exactly what you're looking for, I'll progress to Stage One.

Stage One - Rough Sketch

In Stage One, I'll work towards conceptualizing your idea with a rough sketch, and showing you the results with a water-marked image.* It's simple to make changes at this stage, so I allow the most edits here. Up to 3 edit updates can be requested until I start charging an additional fee** for my extended work. Once you're happy with the sketch, I'll progress to Stage Two.

Stage Two - Clean up/Line art

At this stage, I clean up your commission or add the line art, depending on the style you want for the finished product. I'll update you with the results, and I'll make as many as 2 edit updates if you see anything you'd like me to fix. Adding Line Art on top of the cleaned pencils is optional, as well as all the following stages. You can choose any combination of stages in your commission.

Stage Three - Color

This is where I'll color your commission, and once again update you with the results. I'll make as many as 2 edit updates if you feel any changes are necessary. When you're happy with it, we'll either move on to Stages Six or Seven, depending on the type of commission you have.

Stage Four - Shading

In Stage Four, we progress to shading. The method of shading depends on the style you're looking for in my artwork, and this stage can be skipped if you're looking for flat colors. I'll update you with the results, and you can make as many as 2 edit updates if you feel like there's something you'd like me to change. Once you're satisfied with the shading, we'll move forward to Stage Five!

Stage Five - Lettering

Stage Five is mainly for comic pages and/or illustrations, but it can be applied to any commission you want! This stage works the same as all the others, with an allowance of 2 edit updates.

Stage Six - Payment and Delivery

This is where you'll pay for the commission! I accept payments through my Venmo and PayPal accounts. Once the commission has been paid for, I'll email you the full-resolution, un-watermarked, finished product! Aaand that's a wrap! I send you off with some top-notch art and a smile! :-)

*Until the commission has been fully paid for in Stage Seven, I'll have a watermark on the images I send you in order to protect my work. The update images are intended primarily as a way to show you how the commission is progressing as I produce it, they are not images that you will need to keep once the commission is complete.
**The fee for going over the given number of edit updates depends on how long the requested edit will take me to work into the piece, but in most cases the fee will not exceed $5.00.
